Maple Syruping!
Emma and Daddy went to the preschool program at our local arboretum for their maple syrup-making demonstration. The combination of warmer days and cooler nights made the sap flow well, and it was a nice day to be out. I was sorry to have to miss all the fun, but Emma "wrote" the formula on paper and explained the process to me. Now, if only we could send the taste of fresh maple syrup through the computer!

A Taste of Winter
After several weeks of no snow, we finally got about an inch overnight into today, Feb. 11. Emma was excited! It was also the coldest weather of the year so far, with wind chills in the single digits, so we didn't stay out long or go to the sledding hill. However, we did manage to make our first snowman of the season, and Emma took a few turns down a short slope in our backyard in her baby sled (which I'm sad to say she's all but outgrown). Strangely enough, the snow and cold temperatures helped cure some of the cabin fever we've been feeling!
Family Fun!
Last Sunday, Feb. 5, we had a get-together with Grandma Coe, Aunt Linda, Grandma and Papa Isch, Aunt Kristen, and Uncle Jason. We hadn't seen Grandma and Aunt Linda since Christmas, and Mom pointed out that the mild winter may not last...so we got together for lunch in Columbus. Emma enjoyed showing off her new writing skills (she's been learning how to form her letters, so now she's constantly asking us how to spell things). She even wrote Grandma Coe a "message" as she likes to call it, saying, "I love you Grandma!" Grandma Coe is getting around much better these days with the help of her walker. It was good to see her out and about!
