Pigeon Roost Farm

On Saturday October 29th, we had a beautiful, sunshine-filled day...and nothing planned! Grandma Karen was here for a visit, so we tried to think of something fun that all of us could do together. Since we wanted to get outdoors, but Devine Farms was already closed for the season (see earlier blog entry), we decided to head over to Pigeon Roost Farm, which is just a bit farther down the road. While Emma's friends and the kindergartners at my school had all been there before, we had never visited this fall favorite, figuring that Devine was enough. However, Pigeon Roost has a different feel...not quite as intimate, but very entertaining. Picture an entire field filled with playground-type fun, all constructed out of things you might find on a farm. For example, there was a "Sea Serpent" made out of old tractor tires and a "Hamster Wheel" made out of giant drainage pipes. Add in farm animals, slides built into the hillside, an obstacle course, and every straw activity you can imagine, and you have hours of fun for a four-year-old...and her family, too!
